11/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the General Affairs/External Relations Council welcomed the recent Commission communication on “Strengthening the European Neighbourhood Policy” (ENP, see EUROPE 9320),noting that “significant progress” had been made in the first eighteen months of implementation of the first seven ENP action plans. The Council will examine the communication in further detail and will consider future proposals from the Commission, ministers said in their conclusions. They also invited the future Presidencies to take forward the work on strengthening the ENP in the relevant Council bodies. The incoming German Presidency was invited to make a report to the Council in June 2007. (hb)
