01/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - Lithuania's foreign minister held a conference in Vilnius on 30 November on “Deepening Europe's integration - Public debate dedicated to the approaching 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome” with the participation in particular of Foreign Affairs Minister Petras Vaitiekunas, Deputy Home Secretary Regimantas Ciupaila, Advisor to the President of the Republic Ramunas Vilpusauskas, the Permanent Representative to the EU, Rytis Martikonis, and members of the Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, Petras Austrevicius and Antanas Valionis (who evoked the theme of “Two years after: was Lithuania right to be the first to ratify the Constitutional Treaty?”). Other participants include Helena Tuuri, Under Secretary of State for Finland on European Affairs, her Latvian counterpart, Normunds Popens, and Director-General Legal Advisor to the Council of the EU, Jean-Claude Piris.
