27/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - MEP Jean-Luc Bennahmias (Greens, French) is organising a seminar “Coopérer et entreprendre: des alternatives pour l'emploi en Europe” (Cooperation and enterprise: employment alternatives in Europe) in Brussels on 7-8 December. The seminar, part of the European EQUAL programme, will discuss the possibilities in the EU provided by new forms of employment and partnerships for the creation of economic activities and employment. It will bring together Coopératives d'activités et d'emploi (CAE), their salaried entrepreneurs, MEPs and European Commission representatives, says a press release from Mr Bennahmias. The press release points out that CAEs, cooperative enterprises built on self-employment, have been developed in France, Belgium, Sweden and Quebec, and soon in Morocco and Madagascar, too. Mr Bennahmias says that, helping as they do to reduce unemployment, social breakdown and uncertainty of employment, CAEs deserve to spread not only throughout Europe, but internationally. (mg)
