Approval of new EU fisheries agreement with Mauritania

Strasbourg, 16/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - By 359 to 48 with 72 abstentions, the European Parliament approved the new EU fisheries agreement with Mauritania on Thursday 16 November (see EUROPE 9272 for details of the deal). On Tuesday, the European Parliament agreed to ask the Council to issue its opinion as a matter of urgency. The agreement will last for 6 years from 1 August 2006, and will provide 200 EU ships the option of fishing tuna, crustaceans, hake and other species of fish in...
