Brussels, 08/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 31 October the European Commission adopted a preliminary outlined for the amending budget of (No.6/2006) that is planning to reduce the 2006 budget for payment appropriations by €39bn (€850 million less for agricultural spending, €2.5bn for structural funds and the Cohesion Fund and €546 million for certain pre-accession aid). The proposal also intends to increase revenue by €2.470bn, including €1.653 to take into account the updating of data in the Gross National Product (GNP) of Member States (with the exception of figures for Greece which have to be checked by Eurostat). According to amendments planned (taking into account the other amending budgets), the 2006 budget will rise to €120.564bn in commitment appropriations (860 million less than the current budget that was stopped in December 2005) and €108.173bn in payment appropriations, which leaves a margin that is under the financial perspectives ceiling of €3.236bn (commitment appropriations) and €11.224bn (payment) respectively.
