Council adopts rules for supporting fishing fleet in very outlying regions

Brussels, 07/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - After the favourable opinion by the European Parliament on 26 October (according to emergency procedure, EUROPE 9296), the EU Council of Ministers adopted without debate, on Tuesday 7 November, the regulation allowing for a one year extension until 31 December 2006 of the conditions for paying subsidies to fishing fleets in very outlying regions (Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands and French overseas departments of Guyana and Reunion).
