Online vote on worst European lobby groups

Brussels, le 07/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - Online voting for the worst European lobby group starts today (http://www.worstlobby.eu ). The voting is organised by various press groups (Corporate Europe Observatory, Friends of the Earth Europe and LobbyControl) on two separate categories: the lobby group with the most disappointing and irresponsible practices; institutions or officials favouring specific interests to the detriment of the general interest. There are five candidates in each category, including Exxon Mobile, CEFIC, Commissioner Günter Verheugen and Commissioner Peter Mandelson. Voting will close on 4 December and a prize-giving ceremony will be held in Brussels in December. (ym)
