26/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - To launch reflection on the examination of the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP), the European Commission held a workshop on Wednesday 25 October among leading economic experts representing the financial services industry, national supervisors, academics and consumers. The workshop took the form of four panel sessions corresponding to the initial objectives of the FSAP: a single wholesale market; open and secure retail markets; wider conditions for an optimal single market; prudential supervision and the Lamfalussy Process. The aim of the workshop was to identify the key economic parameters that should be covered in the Evaluation Study by an external contractor, who will be selected through an open call for tender to be published in 2007. The study is expected to be completed by 2009. Comments can be sent to MARKT-FSAP-WORKSHOP@ec.europa.eu (mb)
