13/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - The presidency of the Party of European Socialists (PES) decided on 12 October to “suspend” the provisional membership of the PES obtained in 2005 by the Slovakian Party SMER, headed by Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico. The PES thus penalises the party's decision to enter into a governmental coalition with extreme nationalists SNS. (hb)
