13/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 12 October, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the proposal for a Council decision to grant exceptional financial support (a donation) of €50 million to Kosovo. The EP considers that the release of this sum should be linked to specific objectives to be achieved in the following areas: strengthened transparency and the viability of public finance; application of macroeconomic and budgetary priorities on the basis of the memorandum of economic and financial policies agreed with the IMF; strengthened budgetary discipline and control of public spending; and full respect of international standards on democracy and human rights, including respect of minorities, as well as fundamental principles of rule of law.
