THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/constitution

10/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Union of European Federalists (UEF) refutes the recent proposals made by Nicolas Sarkozy for a new “mini Treaty” to replace the draft European Constitution rejected by the French and the Dutch (EUROPE 9261). In a declaration adopted last weekend in Brussels, the UEF stresses that “the present difficult condition of the European Union requires the full scope of the European Constitution and not a reduced mini-Treaty, which would miss out many of the important and necessary reforms” contained in the text of the European Constitution, which represents “broad public consensus on the future of Europe” (hb).
