Council satisfied with efforts by United Kingdom but addresses new recommendation to Hungary - no worries about Germany

Luxembourg, 10/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday the Ecofin Council followed the Commission's proposals concerning excessive debt procedures against Germany, United Kingdom and Hungary. The only real concern was Hungary, which will benefit from another year to correct a deficit that has not ceased to get worse despite previous recommendations from the Council. No new measures against Germany or the United Kingdom, whose situation, however, still remains uncertain.
