26/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - Jonas Sjöstedt, Swedish member of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left GUE/NGL), is leaving the European Parliament, where he has been an MEP since 1995, in order to be able to spend more time with his family. He will be replaced by Jens Holm. In his farewell speech in Strasbourg on Monday evening, he attacked in particular the European Commission's lack of ambition on reducing atmospheric pollution.
