Brussels, 29/08/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 28 August, the Commission launched a call for proposals for preparatory measures designed to promote the integration of third-country nationals. €5 million have been allocated for the INTI programme in 2006. Grants will cover up to 70% of the total eligible costs of projects seeking to support the setting up of trans-national cooperation networks or pilot projects designed to identify, exchange and evaluate good practice and new approaches in the field of integration; to increase the knowledge base for the development of integration policies across the EU; and to support trans-national dialogue and awareness of the impact of integration on society. The minimum grant per project is €100,000, and the maximum is €500,000 per project. The deadline for submission of proposals is 20 October 2006. This will be the last call for proposals under the INTI programme, since, from 2007, the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals will cover the needs in this area.
