30/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - Spanish MEP Raul Romeva (Green/EFA) will be leading a European Parliament delegation from the European Parliament at the UN conference on small calibre weapons and the proliferation of light arms. This conference will be held in New York and ends on 7 July. In a resolution by the EP, adopted on 15 June, MEPs called for an improvement to be made in control mechanisms on European arms exports and the reinforcement and strict implementation of the EU code of conduct on arms transfers. They also gave their unconditional support to the International Treaty on Arms (EUROPE 9214).
