Brussels, 30/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - Following on from the Austrian Presidency, from Saturday 1st July, Finland has held the six-monthly rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Two meetings of heads of state and government are planned under the chairmanship of Matti Vanhanen: an informal meeting of the European Council in Lahti (Finland) on 20 October and a formal meeting of the European Council in Brussels on 14-15 December.
