The French company BNP PARIBAS is a candidate for taking over FIDIS, the financial services subsidiary of FIAT. It has offered € 1 bn for 51% control of FIDIS, which had initially sold up to the banking consortium (UNICREDIT, SANPAOLO IMI, BANCA INTESA and CAPITALIA) in 2003.
