26/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the High Representative of the EU for CFSP, Javier Solana telephoned the Ukrainian President Viktor Yushenko to congratulate him on the creation of an "orange" coalition in the upper Rada (Ukrainian parliament), according to the press service of the Ukrainian Head of State, quoted by the agency Ria Novosti. Both men also discussed the political situation within the country, according to the same source. Mr Yushenko is said to have taken the opportunity to confirm the invariable nature of Ukraine's external policy in the context of its desire for European integration and its Euro-Atlantic aspirations. On 22 June, the Yulia Tymochenko Bloc, the "Our Ukraine" party and the Socialist Party of Ukraine formed a parliamentary majority in the upper Rada. The coalition has 30 days to form a new government and submit it for the approval of the President.
