Greenhouse gas emissions in EU15 increased 0.3% in 2004 - Commission urges Member States to make effort to reverse this trend

Brussels, 23/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The latest data on greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, published on 22 June by the European Commission, are scarcely encouraging albeit far from desperate if Member States do what it takes to reverse the trend. According to the 2004 inventory from the European Environment Agency (EEA), EU15 emissions increased 0.3% between 2003 and 2004. Despite this mediocre result, however, the emissions level stood 0.9% lower than in the base year (mostly 1990)...
