Joint Parliamentary Assembly stresses how urgent it is to help ACP countries combat avian flu - a “time bomb” waiting to happen in Africa

Brussels, 20/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - MEPs and their ACP (African/Caribbean/Pacific) counterparts meeting in Vienna for their 11th Joint Parliamentary Assembly (EUROPE 9214) said what was needed was a sense of urgency to combat the global threat caused by avian flu which could have repercussions on human health, the economy and stability worldwide. The emergency resolution to be put to the vote at Thursday's JPA recommends emergency planning to ensure that, in the case of animal or human...
