Offsetting adverse impact of seasonal nature of European tourism

Brussels, 12/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 8 June, the European Parliament organised a conference on the seasonal nature of European tourism. Composed of SMEs at 99%, the tourism industry, which generated €1,700 billion in 2005, is today faced by extreme seasonal fluctuations in demand which has a significant impact on employment. Participants at the conference discussed how to strengthen SMEs in this sector, effectively manage seasonal job fluctuations and encourage people to travel off...
