12/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The president of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell, welcomed the vote by the Philippine government on 8 June to abolish the death penalty. Capital punishment is still in force in 73 countries which is “73 countries too many”, Mr Borrell states in a press release. He also restates the wish expressed by the Parliament in 2005 that the Philippine authorities would review the case concerning the Spanish national, Francisco Juan Larranaga, sentenced to death...
