01/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Council has extended by a year the restrictive measures (refusing visas and freezing of assets of members of the ruling military junta) and the ban on funding which could benefit State undertakings in Myanmar. Because of the support given to the dictatorship by China and Russia, these sanctions have had no effect on the military regime.
