Brussels, 01/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - At the Competitiveness Council held in Brussels on 29 May, the Commission presented a progress report and a road map on the European Space Policy. In preparation for the European Space Policy and the European Space Programme, which will be divided into four modules (international relations; European Space Agency (ESA) activities; industrial policy; and applications - Galileo, GMES), the Commission road map sets a series of important stages for 2006 and 2007, trying to involve the main players in the space sector in Europe, including EU Member States, to the maximum. The aim is to have the European Space Programme adopted by the Commission in the first quarter of 2007, so that it can be endorsed by the 4th Space Council, chaired jointly by the Council and ESA, under German Presidency, in the second quarter of 2007. The Commission has promised a communication on the European Space Programme by the end of the year.
