18/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - MEPs Pia Elda Locatelli, Lilli Gruber, Marta Vincenzi, Luisa Morgantini, Monica Frassoni, and Pasqualina Napoletano belong to parties forming the Prodi government and regret that, in this government, 30% of the posts are not held by women (there are only six women ministers - in the Berlusconi government there were two and in the Prodi government in 1996 three). We recall that one of these women is an MEP and former European Commissioner for humanitarian aid and fisheries, Emma Bonino, who becomes Minister for European Affairs. Another MEP who, like Ms Bonino, was in the ALDE Group, Enrico Letta, is the new Secretary General for the Council Presidency.
