European consulates to examine visa requests only

Brussels, 02/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission plans to propose the establishment of “European consular centres” by end May (EUROPE 9182), and Commissioner Franco Frattini has wanted to clarify his position on the role that will entrusted to such centres. “The joint consular centres will only be used to process requests for visas”, Mr Frattini told EUROPE, specifying that this means tourist, business, study and work visas.
