Brussels, 20/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - Karl-Heinz Florenz (German Christian Democrat), Chairman of the European Parliament's Environment Committee, believes that the rise in the water level of the Danube and its devastating flooding, currently affecting Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary, is enough to warrant a draft European directive to be adopted on assessing and collectively managing floods in the EU. The MEP is therefore calling for work on this text to be speeded up.
