Philippe Busquin prefers to have Galileo launched with fewer satellites than delay programme for lack of funds

Brussels, 20/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Galileo satellite navigation system has to come into being, despite the lack of Community funding. For Belgian Socialist MEP Philippe Busquin, chairman of the European Parliament's “Space and Sky” group, it is a matter of having to accept EU budgetary realities for the period 2007-2013 which are far below what the European Commission and European Parliament had expected, particularly in the fields of transport and research.
