Greens welcome selection of Istanbul

Brussels, 18/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - German Green MEP Cem Ozdemir (of Turkish origin) has welcomed the fact that Istanbul was selected (along with Essen and Pecz) as potential European Cultural Capital in 2010 (see Europe 9172). Pointing out his personnel connection with Istanbul, the MEP explains in a press release that he is certain Istanbul will show that it is a metropolis where people from the most varied cultural background can live together.
