EU discusses measures to take if avian flu breaks out in poultry farms

Brussels, 14/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Standing Committee for the Food Chain and Animal Welfare will hold discussions on 15-16 February on what measures to take to prevent the propagation of the avian flu virus in the EU and which has already appeared in Greece, Italy Slovenia and two candidate countries, Romania and Bulgaria (EUROPE 9130). Veterinary experts from Member States will study Community measures to take if the virus, discovered up till now in wild birds only, reaches poultry....
