Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle to be new Executive Director of EFSA - appointment to be formalised after Parliament hearing

Brussels, 14/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, who is French, is to be the new Executive Director of the Parma-based European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the linchpin of the EU's food safety policy.

On 10 February, the EFSA Management Board selected her from a short-list of candidates drawn up by the European Commission. If the European Parliament confirms the nomination, Mrs Geslain-Lanéelle will be formally appointed and will succeed the Briton Geoffrey Poddger who...
