Brussels, 06/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The forthcoming plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg will be marked by the battle on the proposed directive on services in the internal market with, on 16 February, the vote at first reading on the Gebhardt report. Other controversial subjects are on the agenda, such as State aid reform (the EP will debate an own-initiative report), or the exposure of workers to optic rays. Among the main political subjects will feature the crisis with Iran, the European prospects of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the work of the Euromed Parliamentary Assembly and the "human rights" clause in EU agreements with third countries. On the 15 February, the President of the Republic of Austria will give a speech. Here is the detailed agenda, which is liable to change:
Monday 13 February: - Hökmark report on the reform of State aid 2005-2009; - Herczog report on the effects of globalisation on the internal market; - oral question by Arlene McCarthy on SOLVIT; - Cashman report on the confiscation of vehicles by the Greek authorities; - Cottigny report on restructuring and employment; - Öry report on the exposure of workers to optic rays (co-decision, third reading, draft approved by the conciliation committee).
Tuesday 14 February- Agnoletto report on the clause on human rights and democracy in the EU's agreements; Brejc report on the proposed regulation on light cross-border traffic at the external land borders of the Member States (co-decision, first reading); Gauzès report on the proposed modification to the regulation on the notification, in the Member States, of judicial and extrajudicial acts in civil or commercial matters (co-decision, first reading); Stihler report on the revision of certain restrictions to access in the Shetland Box and for plaice, within the context of the fisheries policy (EUROPE 9121); Rothe report on the use of renewable energy sources for heating and cooling; Seppänen report on the proposed directive concerning the monitoring of transfers of radioactive waste and spent fuel (consultation); at 3pm, debate on the Gebhardt report on services in the internal market (co-decision, first reading); communication of the Commission on its decisions of the day.
