Brussels, 06/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The EastWest Institute is holding the third annual conference on world security, in Brussels from 21 to 23 February. This conference, which is organised in partnership with the World Customs Organisation (WCO), will offer the opportunity to look at progress made and the future priorities in the fight against terrorism. The Russian Minister for foreign affairs will be taking part in the organisation of the work of 23 February, a day which will be given over almost exclusively to public/private partnerships in terms of surveillance, critical infrastructure, border controls, and the security of communications and information (Russia is chairing the G8 this year). Amongst those taking part in the debates will be Jose Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the European Commission, Javier Ruperez, who heads up the fight against terrorism for the UN, Evgeni Primakov, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Franco Frattini, European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs, Gijs De Vries, anti-terrorist coordinator of the EU, and Anatoly Safonov, special Representative of the President of the Federation of Russia for the fight against terrorism and organised crime.
