Brussels, 06/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Adriatic Euro-Region was officially launched, at a conference organised by the Congress of Local and Regional Powers of the Council of Europe, with the support of the Region Veneto. This Euro-Region will group together the six Adriatic countries: Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia-Montenegro. The objective is, amongst other things, to help these countries to dialogue and to smooth out tensions on either side, in order to be able to integrate all of the countries of the Adriatic into Europe. Among those taking part in the conference will be the President of the Region Veneto, Giancarlo Galan, the Italian Minister for regional affairs, Enrico La Loggia, the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Giovanni Di Stasi, and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Terry Davis.
