14/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - László Kovács is in China from 14 to 16 November to launch a permanent dialogue on the Customs sector. The Commissioner in charge of Taxation and the Customs Union will meet Vice-President Mrs Wu Yi and Customs Minister Mu Xinsheng, and will take part in the first meeting of the EU/China joint Customs committee. Challenges related to piracy and counterfeiting will be the main subjects discussed, and the Commission welcomes the clear intention of the Chinese authorities to cooperate in this field (see EUROPE 9046 and 8884). Also to be discussed are subjects such as measures related to trade safety and partnerships between European and Chinese businesses.
