Screening with Turkey and Croatia will last till autumn 2006 but will not prevent opening of talks on first chapters in parallel

Brussels, 21/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - As announced yesterday (p.4 in yesterday's bulletin), the European Commission services and representatives of Turkey and Croatia began the screening of acquis communautaire on 20 October, in Brussels. Screening is traditionally the first technical stage in the preparations with a view to opening membership talks strictly speaking.
