Brussels, 31/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - Following Jacque Chirac's comments on Monday about Iran, the chief Iranian negotiator on nuclear issues, Ari Larijani, said on Tuesday after a meeting with Indian foreign minister Natwar Singh in New Delhi that Iran was fully committed to and held by international rules on nuclear issues. The important thing is to continue serious negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA, added Larijani. He had travelled to India to seek India's support in the IAEA negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme. On Monday, President Chirac called on Iran to choose cooperation and trust by returning to its commitments to suspend the production of fissile material. The French President said we are appealing to Iran's spirit of responsibility to restore cooperation and trust, failing which the Security Council would have no other choice than to look at the issue. Chirac urged Iran to really examine the political, technological and trade cooperation offer submitted to it by the EU3 (Germany, France and the UK) in exchange for objective guarantees on the suspension of Iran's production of sensitive nuclear activities.
