Pascal Lamy takes up his duties in Geneva

Brussels, 31/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - Pascal Lamy, former European Commissioner for Trade (and former chef de cabinet under Jacques Delors in the European Commission) took up his post as the new Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on 1 September, for a mandate or four years, replacing Supachai Panitchpakdi of Thailand. His first task will be to prepare for the ministerial conference which will conclude negotiations on the Doha Round, in Hong Kong from 13 to 18 December....
