01/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana, sent his personal message of condolences on Monday to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, who became the successor to King Fahd, who had just died at the age of 84. King Fahd "led Saudi Arabia with courage and vision during a turbulent period of time which presented many challenges. The warmth and friendship he showed to the European Union (...) will not be forgotten", and "I am certain that your wisdom (...) will allow us to continue and further develop" the excellent relations between the EU in Saudi Arabia, Mr Solana told the new king. The Secretary General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, announced that the extraordinary Arab summit, which was due to take place in Sharm el sheikh on three August, would be postponed.
