19/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a speech made in London on Thursday, at a seminar of the UK Presidency on State aid, Neelie Kroes voiced her hopes of creating a European network to check on the granting of State aid. The Commissioner for Competition, who was presenting her action plan in favour of less, better targeted State aid (EUROPE 8963), said that this decentralised approach would allow partnerships to be created via "clearly-defined points of contact and a stable communication structure with interested parties in the Member States". This would facilitate "cooperation for the day-to-day treatment of State aid cases" and would offer useful assistance to the authorities to draw up measures compatible with the applicable rules for State aid.
