Thales tasked with Galileo safety

Brussels, 19/07/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Thales group has been chosen by Galileo Industries and the European Space Agency (ESA) to provide services involving the definition and design of the safety policy of the European satellite navigation system Galileo, according to a press release of 19 July. It is due to its expertise in the field of defining and developing complete and high-performance safety architecture that Thales won the contract, said Yves Perreal, the director for safety of Galileo Industries. The group has developed considerable expertise in communications safety technologies for IP networks, specialist links and satellite systems, and fulfils Galileo's many safety requirements, in its civil, commercial and governmental applications. By integrating its French, German and British subsidiaries, Thales will be involved at the level of the system as a whole, as well as at the level of each Galileo segment (space, controls, mission, end users).
