Opening distillation crisis mechanism for Greek wine

Brussels, 15/06/2005 (Agence Europe) -In an effort to reduce the high stocks of wine with the approach of the new harvest, the European Commission has decided to trigger the distillation crisis mechanism for 340 000 hectolitres (hl) of Greek table wine and t 40 000 hl of quality wine. The minimum purchasing price for wine delivered to the distillery is 1.914 euro for the first category and 2.30 euros for the seconded.
