13/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - As we announced, Roger Helmer has left the EPP-ED group of the European Parliament. On 7 June, the group overwhelmingly voted (191 votes in favour, 34 against and 9 abstentions) for him to be excluded, further to insulting comments made by Mr Helmer about group president Hans-Gert Pöttering. Mr Helmer reacted by saying that he felt "relieved" to be leaving a group of left-wingers and "federalists", asking why other British Conservatives were "still sleeping with...
