EP wants international investigation into repression at Andijan - 'Do not destabilise the country'

Brussels, 10/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Parliament adopted a joint resolution (EPP-ED, PES, ALDE, UEN) on Uzbekistan, strongly condemning the recent brutal repression in Andijan by the Uzbek security forces and urging President Karimov to agree to an international investigation. The EP stresses that the authorities in Tashkent should fully cooperate with the organisation of such an investigation and urges the European Commission to find ways to provide all necessary...
