31/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - British Conservative Edward McMillan-Scott, MEP, has suggested the creation of a centre for democracy to help the countries of the south and east of the European Union to build and strengthen their democracy. He made the proposal during a public hearing organised last week on the fringe of the plenary session. This new centre may be set up within the European Parliament on the model of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), in US Congress circles.
