19/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - Claudie Haigneré, French minister for European Affairs, points out that “the balance of the construction system of the European Union is fragile, we must stay alert and try to avoid moments which could cause interruptions, steps backwards”. Ms Haigneré, who is campaigning for the “yes” vote on the Constitutional Treaty in France, stressed that nobody can say for certain what the outcome of the referendum of 29 May will be. She believes that the French will vote yes if they manage to re-centre the debate, but that if the “noes” have it, renegotiation of the text is unlikely. “There is no Plan B at this stage, and there might not be one later”, she said.
