Negotiations kick off for bilateral agreement to boost trade and investment

Brussels, 18/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - Canada and the EU started negotiations in Brussels on Monday on a trade and investment enhancement agreement (TIEA), according to a press release from the Canadian foreign ministry, which states that TIEA will no longer be a traditional free-trade agreement based on phasing out customs duty, and will aim to respond to the “new generation” of trade issues: cooperation on rule-making, investment, facilitation of trade, non-tariff obstacles to trade....
