02/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Financial Times Deutschland on 29 April affirmed that economist Peter Bofinger was the favourite candidate of the German government for replacing Otmar Issing, the Chief Economist on the bank's board of governors when he retires at the beginning of next year. The German newspaper points out that Gerhard Schröder wanted peter Bonfinger (who is close to the unions) to become president of the Bundesbank but that finance minister Hans Eichel was opposed....
