02/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 27 April the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe rejected the report by Swiss Liberal Dick Marty on helping the dying (26 for, 138 against, with 5 abstentions). The Assembly therefore confirmed its opposition to the liberalisation of any kind of euthanasia. The position was immediately welcomed by German Christian Democrat at the European Parliament, Peter Liese.
