02/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - During a meeting on 26 April the European Brain Council presented a new study to the European Parliament, supported by British Conservative John Bowis. This again demonstrates the degree of human and economic cost of brain disorders and that research in the neurosciences is poorly funded. According to this study, EUR 127 million Europeans suffer from a variety of diseases of the central nervous system. In 2004, the cost of these diseases rose to EUR 386 billion, EUR 829 per inhabitant, and the equivalent of 25 tunnels under the Channel.
